ABOUT KRISTY
Kristy McInnis is a sought-after powerhouse drummer known for her hard-hitting style and impeccable timing.
Growing up in rural Missouri, drumming came naturally to Kristy, passed on from her father, a jazz drummer and her biggest influence. Playing in college bands gave Kristy the opportunity to showcase her drumming skills, as well as her multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter talents.
She began her music career in the Midwest where she was a member of the popular punk-pop band the Smarties, played with renowned Springfield, MO musicians D. Clinton Thompson and Lou Whitney, and started her own band, Swetty Betty. She also received songwriting mentorship from Oscar-winning composer Tommy Whitlock.
Kristy then moved to Los Angeles, where she met Kathy Valentine (The Go-Go’s) and Dominique Davalos and joined their dynamic 3-piece rock band, the Delphines. She also played drums for indie rock bands EZ Tiger, the Randies, and the Evangenitals, as well as worked as an unscripted television producer.
While still living in LA, Kristy teamed up again with Kathy and Dominique, this time with guitarist Eve Monsees, as part of their Austin-based band, the Bluebonnets. The blues rock group has toured with the Waterboys and Gary Clark Jr, and most recently played at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH.
Now living in Austin, Kristy plays regularly with the Bluebonnets and can be seen this summer playing drums for the Head Over Heels musical at the ZACH Theatre.
